I know most people are past the 'review' phase and are either busy playing or busy ignoring the game because of drama and what not. I wont be mentioning the drama in this thread since at the end of the day I dont really care that much.
I have played every single Battlefield since 1942 except for 2142 and the Battlefield franchise is by far my most played franchise. I have thousands of hours put into these games and even though I like other shooters aswell, nothing really comes close to what Battlefield has to offer imo.

Last night I rounded 80 hours of ingame time, which isnt alot considering what ive put into other BF games. I have played it every single day since launch and before you say I have no life I can assure you I go to work 8 hours a day and only play for 1-2 hours at a time.
I have to say, the honeymoon phase for this game is rapidly ending for me and only after 80 hours, which is unusually early compared to previous BF titles. Last night I was excited to play the new patch but after 10 minutes I just quit the game because I just became super bored. Which leads me into the problem with BFV, its nothing new, its just more Battlefield. This game is soo much better on paper then what it actually is. Infact the hype for BFV started back in the early days of BF1 where people started to speculate that the next battlefield was going to take a more competitive turn which was music to my ears. And when we got information about how they reworked gunplay and what not, the hype grew even bigger. I love this game, on paper, but in reality its just kind of... underwhelming.
Battlelog is a free social platform that ties into Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 3 and lets you socialize, track stats, plan your next game, and more from your web browser! Howdy, Stranger! It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
I dont get why so many people got attacked in the first few days for saying this game feels like more of BF1, because thats exactly what it is. Even with all these changes that looks so good on paper, the game plays almost exactly like BF1, infact if you play it the exact same way as you did BF1 your perfomance will probably be identical.
Dont get me wrong, im not saying I expected a completely different experience going from one title to another, I mean its Battlefield after all. But previous titles did so much more in terms of changing the experience from one game to another while still keeping the Battlefield feel to it. Go back and play 5 hours of BF4 and then go play 5 hours of BF1, its the same mechanics more or less, but feels completely different and thats awesome imo.

The more I play the more bored I get and im starting to really notice the bugs and stuff that feels like a complete downgrade from BF1. Like the vaulting and movement mechanics. Like why does my characther vault if I jump while standing on a hill? Why does my characther get stuck on every little piece of debree on the ground? Somehow even the leaning feels wierd in BFV. You nailed the prone mechanics, ill give you that and im not even being sarcastic, proning has never felt better, but everything else feels kind of... rushed. Its strange, I just dont feel as comfortable in this game as I did in BF1.
The maps is another thing. In BF1 I had 1 map that I disliked, Giants Shadow, in BFV however I have multiple maps that I truly despise. Like Aerodrome, Hamada and Twisted steel. They look great, like every map of previous titles tend to do, but they are so boring and open.
- So I found another solution. Make sure that in ALL of your video.con files, the resolution and refresh rate are the same. That includes the one(s) in Steam>steamapps>common>Battlefield 2>profiles>Local AND the ones in Documents>Battlefield 2> Profiles>0001,0002,Default,etc. In those files, it says setResolution, just make sure they're the same.
- I thought the beta was great and I download it for all 3 platforms 360, PS3, and PC. People don't understand what a beta is even if the game designer, explain to them so many times its not what the actual game looks like.
- The Project Reality Team develops this modification completely free of charge for its community to download and play. BF2 v1.5 we implemented the long awaited.
Again, this game looks so damn great on paper, but it doesnt really feel like anything new. Take the new gunmechanics for example. Does the gunplay in BfV reward skill more then BF1? Well maybe, atleast on paper, but personally im not doing anything different in BFV then I did in BF1. I aim at people and I kill them, the difference in recoil doesnt feel like its had any impact on gunplay at all. Again it does on paper, but not really in reality. Maybe its the casual nature of Battlefield and that there really isnt any incentive to get better? I dont know. All I know is that I got to the top of most scoreboards in BF1 and im doing the exact same in BFV just as easy.
Im really struggling to see whats supposed to be so new and revolutionary about BFV compared to previous titles. Like, the fortification mechanic is an interesting idea, but I feel like they just removed cover that would have been in previous titles and put in buildable cover that gets removed by 1 grenade... Its really not anything special.

I dont know if there exists a gem behind all the bugs and what feels like rushed content. Right now I feel like this is going to be my least played BF title so far, there just isnt enough to keep me interested, theres not really anything new to learn.
Is the game fun? Well yes, its just as fun as squading up with my friends as previous titles where, but again it just feel exactly the same and im abit disappointed. If I wanted more of the same I could have just gone back and played more BF1 and saved myself the purchase.
Maybe ive just grown to old for this franchise, I dont know. But im actually quite disappointed in BFV. I did get 80 hours out of it though and I will probably try the new content when it gets released, but still, I was expecting more.
If im gonna sum up my feelings about BFV with a ridiculous comparison, I would say that if BF1 is a donut filled with strawberry jam, then BFV is a regular donut with strawberry jam smeared on top of it. Its like yea, its different, but at the end of the day its still feels the same.
